Program Notes
Atlantic is a slow but moving three-minute piece written for standard wind ensemble. As most music relies on melody to be main focus for the listener, I wanted instead to write a piece in which the driving force was the chord progression. I wanted the chord progression to determine where the piece would go next, and even to push the melody in places it wouldn’t normally have gone.
